Terms of Service

1. What OutDate is

OutDate (“the Service”, “we”, “us”) is a software tool that estimates federal release, placement, and eligibility dates from information you provide, and generates draft documents and reminders to help you pursue corrections through the Bureau of Prisons’ own administrative channels. It is an information and drafting tool — nothing more. By creating an account or using the calculator you agree to these Terms and to the disclaimers, which are part of these Terms.

2. Estimates only — read this one twice

Every date the Service produces is an estimate, computed from your inputs and our reading of current law and Bureau of Prisons policy, both of which change. The Bureau of Prisons makes all final sentence-computation, placement, and release determinations. You must not make financial, housing, employment, family, or legal decisions on the assumption that an OutDate projection is correct. Where our numbers differ from BOP paperwork, BOP may hold information you did not enter here.

3. Not legal advice; no attorney–client relationship

OutDate is not a law firm and does not practice law. No attorney–client relationship is created by using the Service, paying for it, or corresponding with us. Documents the Service generates are templates and drafts for you to review, complete, and submit yourself; we do not file, submit, or advocate on your behalf with BOP, any court, or any agency. We strongly encourage review by a licensed attorney before anything is filed, and you are responsible for verifying every deadline against current BOP program statements.

4. Your account

  • You must be at least 18 years old to create an account.
  • You are responsible for your credentials and for everything done under your account. Real names are never required for case subjects — aliases work everywhere.
  • You represent that you are lawfully entitled to enter the information you store — your own case, or that of someone who has asked for your help.

5. Subscriptions and billing

  • The free tier includes one saved case. Pro is a monthly subscription (price shown at checkout) with a 7-day free trial; you will not be charged if you cancel before the trial ends.
  • Billing is handled by Stripe. We never see or store card numbers. Subscriptions renew monthly until canceled; cancel any time from your account page, effective at the end of the current billing period.
  • Physical-mail credit packs are one-time purchases. See the refund policy for what is refundable and when.
  • We may change prices with at least 30 days’ notice before your next renewal.

6. Physical mail service

Where available, the Service can print and mail letters you approve to the person inside through a commercial print-and-mail vendor, under your verified name and return address. You are the sender of every letter: you are responsible for its contents and for compliance with the receiving facility’s mail rules. We apply known facility formatting rules automatically but cannot guarantee acceptance — facilities reject mail at their discretion. Rejected letters may be reformatted and resent as described in the product.

7. Acceptable use

  • No unlawful use, including harassment or contacting persons subject to no-contact orders.
  • No attempts to probe, overload, or disrupt the Service, or to access others’ data.
  • No scraping or resale of the Service’s outputs as your own product.
  • We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms. You may delete your account and its data at any time.

8. Disclaimer of warranties

The Service is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including accuracy, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that projections are correct, that rules data is current, or that the Service will be uninterrupted or error-free.

9. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, our total liability for any claim arising out of or relating to the Service is limited to the amounts you paid us in the twelve months before the claim arose, and we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or exemplary damages — including damages arising from reliance on any projected date. Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations; where they do not, these apply to the fullest extent permitted.

10. Changes and contact

We may update these Terms; material changes will be announced in the product or by email at least 14 days before they take effect, and continued use after that constitutes acceptance. Questions: [email protected]. These Terms are governed by the laws of the United States and, to the extent state law applies, the home state of the Service’s operator, without regard to conflict-of-law rules.
